Even This Will Pass Away!

Once in Persia reigned a king
Who upon a signet ring
Carved a maximum strange and wise
When held before his eyes
Gave him counsel at a glance
Fit for every change and chance
Solemn words and these were they
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Trains of camel through the sand
Brought him gems from samercand.
Flees of galleys over the seas
Brought him pearls to rival these
But he counted little gain
Treasures of mine or main
What is wealth? The kind would say
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Mid the pleasure of his court,
At the zenith of theor sport
When the palms of all his guests
Burned with clapping at his jests
Seated midst the figs and wines
Said the kings “Ah friends of mine.”
Pleasure comes but not to stay,
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Women fairest ever seen
Was the bride he crowned as queen.
Pillowed on the marriage bed
Whispering to his soul he said
Though no monarch ever pressed
Fairer bosom to his breast
Moral flesh is only clay.
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Fighting on the furious field,
Once a javelin pierced his shield
Soldiers with a loud lament
Bore him bleeding to his tortured side
Pain is hard to bear he cried
But with patience day by day
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Towering in a public square
Forty cubits in the air
And the king disguised unknown
Gazed upon his sculptured named
And he pondered “What is fame?”
Fame is but a slow decay!
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Struck with palsy, sore and old
Waiting at the gates of gold
Said he with dying breath
Life is done, but what is DEATH?
Then an answer to the king
Fell a sun beam on his ring
Showing by a heavenly ray
“EVEN THIS WILL PASS AWAY!”

Laugh and this world laughs with you…

Laugh and this world laughs with you,
Weep and you weep alone;
For this brave old earth must borrow its mirth
It has sorrow enough of its own.
Sing and the hills will answer,
Sigh! It is lost in the air.
The echoes do bound a joyful sound,
But shrink from voicing care.
Rejoice and men will seek you.
Grieve and they turn and go.
They want full measures of all your pleasure
But they do not want your woe.
Be glad and your friends are many
Be sad and you lose them all.
There is none to decline your nectar wine.
But alone you must drink your life’s gall.
Feast and your halls are crowded,
Fast and world goes by.
But no one can help you die
There is room in the halls of pleasure.
For a long and lonely train
But one by one w must all file on
Through the narrow aisles of pain.

A little

paint-brush1

Dab a little,
Paint a little,
Sing a little,
Dance a little,
Find out what you love.

Weave a little,
Explore a little,
Plant a little,
Play a little,
Find time to do what you love.

Laze a little,
Navigate the maze a little,
Write a little,
To try and find your fiddle.

When you have discovered your mettle,
Don’t hesitate to showoff a little
and play your own tune tonight!

Stopping by the woods on a snowy evening

Whose woods these are I think I know
His house is in the village though
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake
The only other sound’s the sweep
of easy wind and downy flake

The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep,
and miles to go before I sleep,
and miles to go before I sleep.

Anyway…

People are unreasonable, illogical and self-centered
LOVE THEM ANYWAY

If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives
DO GOOD ANYWAY

If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies
SUCCEED ANYWAY

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable
BE HONEST AND FRANK ANYWAY

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow
DO GOOD ANYWAY

The biggest people with the biggest ideas can be shot down
by the smallest people with the smallest mind.
THINK BIG ANYWAY

People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs
FIGHT FOR SOME UNDERDOGS ANYWAY

What you spent years building many be destroyed overnight
BUILD ANYWAY

Give the world the best you have and you will get kicked in the teeth
GIVE THE WORLD THE BEST YOU’VE GO ANYWAY!

Don’t Quit!

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you are trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and debts are high,
and you want to smile but have to sigh

When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must – but don’t you QUIT!

Life is queer with its twists and turns
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
and many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out

Don’t give up though the phase seems slow –
You might succeed with another blow…

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt –
and you can never tell how close you are.
It many be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you are hardest hit
Its when things get worse that you mustn’t QUIT!

Believe in yourself

Believe in yourself! you’re divinely designed
And perfectly made for the work of mankind

This truth you must cling to through danger and pain
The heights man has reached you can also attain

Believe to the very last hour, for it’s true
That whatever you WILL you’ve been gifted to do

Believe in yourself and step out unafraid
By misgivings and doubt be not easily swayed

You’ve the right to succeed, the precision of skill
Which betokens the great, you can earn if you will !

The wisdom of ages is yours if you’ll read
But you’ve got to believe in yourself to succeed!
